What's New

02/03/2012
Just finished a neat project to convert a 1958 Corvette mechanical fuel injection manifold to EFI.
Never did one before.  Quite a bit on work to find injectors that are short enough,
figure a way to hold them down, 90 degree fittings for the -3 AN lines, make a fuel distribution log,
then route the lines using -3 B-nuts.  But once you're done it should run sweet.

Well that didn't take long.  It looks like the KB Race HEMI (01/17/2012 below) is sold.
See what happens when you don't respond quickly.  Somebody else gets a heck of a deal.

We helped Danney Meyer get his drag racing license in the FAST Man EFI dragster.
You can see pictures and a video on our Facebook page.

Just came back from a tuning visit to Muscle Car Restorations in Wisconsin.
Really a nice place that truly offers one-stop shopping.  They have their own body shop with a state-of-the-art spray booth, and even their own load-bearing dyno for tuning.  6 buildings in all.  Check them out:
http://www.musclecarrestorations.com/

I worked on 5 very nice cars:

A very nice 528" HEMI Dart

This uses one of the "Stealth EFI Manifolds"
that we designed here.

The fuel rails and injectors
are all inside the manifold.

This is a Twin Turbo Big Block.
You don't even want to know how
much horsepower this guy
made on the chassis dyno.

*******************************************************

A very nice HEMI Cuda

*******************************************************

An unbelievable 572" HEMI Super-Bee
with more electronics than just the FAST XFI.

This car is totally wired using the ISIS system.

10/21/11
Here's a shot of our recent win at Redding.
The little dog belonged to someone at the track.
Several years back he was hit by a car and lost a leg and one eye, but he was soooo happy I just had to pick him up for the photo.

New features for racers have been added to the XFI version 2.01.  These are:
* O2 correction Inhibit Delay. This feature turns off  O2 correction for a period of time when the A/F ratios could be wrong. An example would be after a shift or launching after transbrake release.
*
Pedal Mode Delay. A user defined time to hold the PA (Power Adder) timer when the PA mode is active. For example the progressive controller or the boost controller; when the driver has to peddle the car or let off the gas to shift, this feature holds the PA mode for the set amount of time. If the driver then gets back into the throttle within the Pedal Mode delay period, the PA timer will continue where it left off at without restarting from the beginning.

10/3/11
Well, I'm back from the ET finals and NO I didn't double up from 2010.  I can't blame the car because it was running so smooth and consistent.  In round # 1 I dialed a 7.710, ran 7.711, and won.  I can't argue with that.  But In round # 2 I had a poor reaction time to my opponents .006.  I could have run exactly on my dial and I still would have lost.  Oh well, that's racing...
Now back to work ...

9/27/11
We'll be at the NHRA Division-7 ET Finals in Las Vegas from 9/28 through 10/3, so call on the phone rather than using email.

9/19/11
Whoo hoo - I won the NHRA National Open in Super-Pro this weekend in Redding Ca.
In the movie "National Lampoon's Vacation" the Griswold family was trying to make it to Wally World.
Well next time they should visit our own little Wally World here at FAST Man EFI.

Added a great link to the Link page.  This is the CPGNation (Comp Performance Group) FAST tech support page.  There are several very knowledgeable people that support this forum.  Brian Macy is one of the FAST instructors and I also review this page every day and publish direct responses.
http://www.cpgnation.com/forum/fast-product-support.html
My customers come to me first for technical questions and issues, but be aware that this forum is also a great place to go for any EZ-EFI or XFI information.  Heck, even I learned a few things, and if you know me, that's hard to admit

9/11/11
Added a general XFI FAQ page to the home page.
Or just click HERE

9/7/11
XFI version 2.002 has been released.  Information is on the Home page.

I had to disable downloading of .GCT files because my hosting server would not allow that extension.
It is corrected now and program downloading is enabled.

7/22/2011
I started to upload a few XFI 2.0 programs.

7/21/2011
I started creating the XFI 2.0 Free program page.  The Link is on the main page.

I added information on the Technical Download page about how to add or remove pins to the XFI ECU connectors.
Here's a good Youtube video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2vz6VAe_7Q

6/8/2011
I updated the latest EZ-EFI instructions.  You can download these from either the home page or the technical download page.  These instructions are the latest version as of this date and assumes the ECU03 version of the EZ software.

6/6/2011
* Changes were made to the XFI 2.0 page.  I had stated that your TPS did not have to be reconfigured, but that was wrong since 2.0 requires this.
* There is a new base program for the EZ-EFI systems.  Download this document to see how to upgrade your EZ system. When, and IF (only if your EZ ECU shows ECU01), you are ready to get the ZIP file - just click HERE

6/2/2011
I will soon be listing a series of XFI 2.0 programs for free download.  See the home page for this info.

6/1/2011
Went racing this last weekend (don't ask - I lost).  But I did manage to take a video with a GoPro camera sitting next to me in the cage.  It's posted on You Tube at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2zGWX6i27M

5/24/2011
I added Setting up the FAST XFI System - version 2.0 to the
Technical Download page.  It has been changed to reflect the changes in the XFI version 2.0.  I left the original document there too since many people have not upgraded to version 2.0.

5/17/2011
Updated pricing on the products page.

5/11/2011
XFI 2.0 note: Some people have been watching their Base VE Table, while learning, and have called me because they don't see the VE numbers changing.  That's because the VE table display is NOT updated in real time.  If you have your laptop on, while you drive, and you're watching the system learn, just hit the F3 key periodically to see the updated VE table.

Posted a picture of a 460" small block Ford that I tuned on the dyno.  "Small block" is not a typo.  It really is a stroker small block.  Made almost 700 HP.

5/1/2011
I won another Wally this weekend at the NHRA National Open at Sacramento Raceway.

4/28/2011
I now accept credit cards.  I have always used Paypal in the past, but if you do not have a Paypal account it can be difficult to use a credit card to pay your FAST Man EFI invoice.  So after you receive an invoice, call me at 209-247-6497 and give me your credit card information.  It's that easy.

Do not email me your credit card information, because this is not secure.  Over the phone it's totally secure.

4/20/2011
I had to add a special section about the XFI 2.0 upgrade.  Customer's upgrading from an earlier program have been running into problems because the new capabilities don't have default values from your old program.  Even though everything is working - it is causing some stress.  So I added a special page to go over the upgrade process and cover the issues that people are running into.  Click HERE for that page.

4/17/2011
* Updated the For Sale Page after selling some stuff at Mopars At The Strip.
* Speaking of Mopars At The Strip, We did race our dragster in the Quick-16 class. That car was running perfectly and was very consistent.  Then in round #2 - I should have trusted the car.  I dialed a 7.67 and at the very end I backed off because I didn't want to break out.  I gave a .001 victory to my opponent when I ran a 7.70 (backing off I also was 4 mph lower than in previous runs).  My laptop computer can predict what the car would have run, based upon the 1000' ET.  It's called run completion, and it said I would have run a 7.68.  I should have just trusted the car and kept my foot down.  Oh well.

4/4/2011
Some of you liked my racing cookies and have been asking for more recipes.  Well - I decide to publish one of my favorites.
So go to Recipes and read the instructions. It will seem weird to most of you but give it a chance.

3/28/2011
Tuned an awesome street rod to day with a 572" KB HEMI and FAST XFI.  Photos on the Photos page. This engine has injectors above and below the blower and runs fantastic.  It starts immediately, idles, has great power (about 900 on the dyno), and never goes over 190 degrees.

3/25/2011
Added an XFI 2.0 photo to the main page and I added a 426 HEMI crank and rods to the For Sale page.

3/9/2011
Well ... XFI 2.0 was officially released today.  The upgrade procedure has changed slightly:
* If you want a new XFI case (that has the 2.0 on it), you'll have to send your ECU back to FAST.  Charge is $100.
* If you are okay with writing 2.0 on your existing XFI case with a "Sharpie", then the software upgrade is only $50.
*
If you bought your XFI within the last year, your software upgrade is free.

Here's the software only upgrade procedure, The new software is on the FAST web site (www.fuelairspark.com):
* Email me your ECUs serial number (found under View/ECU Configuration when connected to your laptop).
* I will email your serial number to FAST and they will email me an option file which is based off your ECUs serial number.
* Download the new C-COM 2.0 software from the FAST web site (technical resources/downloads).
This will include new software for your laptop, the latest flash update version XFI_Flash_8E.xfi, and the new documentation.
* When I get the option file back from FAST I will email it to you.
* Connect to your ECU and flash the new firmware (XFI_Flash_8E.xfi) into your ECU.
Flash instructions are on your laptop under Help/Index, Section 26.0, Flashing Updates into you XFI
* Disconnect and install the downloaded C-COM 2.0 software on your laptop.
* Go to View/System Configuration/Enable Option File and read in your specific option file that I emailed to you.

I decided to convert the HEMI in the dragster from gasoline to Methanol.  Today was the first test-and-tune day at the track.
Previous best for this car running on pump gas (the motor is only 10.5:1 CR), was 7.63 @173 MPH at below sea level density altitude.  Today it ran 7.50 @ 177 MPH at 1000' DA.  I'd say that was a nice improvement.

You may have heard that alcohol contaminates the oil, but after a full day of racing, when I drained the oil it looked like new.  This goes to prove that if you build a good motor with good ring seal you can run E85 or even methanol with minimal problems.

You do have to follow the other alcohol regimes such as rinsing the fuel system after every event, upgrading your fuel system to be able to handle alcohol and the extra flow, and (with an EFI engine) upgrading the fuel injectors because you will burn 2.2 times the amount of fuel.  Target A/F ratio for Methanol is about 5.6:1 at WOT.

BTW: The FAST XFI system has no problem with A/F ratios this low.  The wideband that FAST uses will read accurately down to 3.5:1 and it's totally alcohol compatible.

3/1/2011
Just tuned a beautiful 68 EFI Mustang.  Pics on the photos page.

2/27/2011
I've been selling parts from my shop so I had to update the For Sale page again.
The best deals on that page are the Edelbrock EFI manifold for RB motors and the Accel dual-sync EFI distributors.

2/17/2011
Lost power on 2/17 (Thursday) last week and we still do not have it back.  Going on 6 days now. But I did get the Internet back this morning and we're running on a generator.  Anyway, I sold some parts so I updated the For Sale page.

2/8/2011
TONS of Mopar stuff for sale. I finally started to clean out my shop. Go to the For Sale Page.

2/4/2011
Just finished a Gen-1 392 HEMI with Hilborn stacks converted to EFI.
Sweet little street motor that idles at 750 RPM and has a "dead flat" torque curve.

Well, I guess FAST got a little ahead of itself.
Version 2.0 was supposed to be released around the first of the year, but FAST is running behind schedule due to beta-site testing and feedback.
Current target is mid March.
Feel free to call me to get a person-to-person update.
Thanks for your patience.

12/17/10
Final details on the XFI-2.0 update is posted on the
PRODUCTS page.

11/24/10
Well, it's the day before Thanksgiving and I received a Thanksgiving gift!
The new XFI version 2.0 will be released just before Christmas.
So you may say, "So what".
The EZ-EFI system have been selling very well because they are self tuning and they really work.
But some users, especially racers, needed the power, and fuel flexibility of the full XFI system.
But the XFI required lap top tuning, and not everybody was comfortable with that.
Well - XFI version 2.0 adds the self tuning algorithms of the EZ systems to the XFI.
What this means is that you get all the benefits and flexibility of the XFI system yet IT SELF TUNES ITSELF.
What more could you ask for?

There are a few things that racers have been asking for so FAST has added those too:
* Multiple rev limiters
* Progressive boost control
* New power added algorithms
* Improvements to the traction control algorithms
* Special "test" mode to make timing setup easy
* More accurate warm-up tables
* Automatic TPS calibration
* Improved on-board diagnostics
* User control of low battery injector compensation
ETC - ETC - ETC ...

I'm so excited I need to get a glass of wine ...
